BLOG BIRTHDAY AND MY FIRST GIVEAWAY!

My blog is 1 year old today! I made my first blog post on January 31st 2013. I can't believe how quick the year has gone and how many posts I have written. I have also attended a few blogger events and met a few of you lovely ladies.

Thank you to all my followers who have followed my blog on blog lovin, GFC and Twitter. As a thank you I am organising my first giveaway which will run from the 31st January to the 28th February.

Meeting Daphne from Sub Genre of a Dream

On Wednesday I was lucky enough to go hang out with Daphne from Sub Genre of a Dream in Yummcha on Berwick Street. We arranged to meet for 11am and go for some tea. Daphne has recently changed her blog name and it was previously called Peanut Butter and Chocolate Life or PBCL for short, but heck is it a mouth full to say!

LUSH Candy Box

Whilst typing this post I am currently sat in my bedroom, which smells a lot like a Lush store at the moment. It is making me want to go for a bath right now.

I bought the Candy Box from Lush in Chester when I went shopping with Blog Beth. I thought £9.95 was expensive for this box, but when you think about it each item is £2. Instead of it's full price price of £4. So I think I got a pretty good deal.

#AccessAllAsos

YES PLEASE! Before Christmas I saw on Instagram a few of the people I follow had received packages from #AccessAllAsos and being the nosy inquisitive blogger that I am I did some research and a few minutes later I had submitted my application to #AccessAllAsos. I then got on with Christmas and New Year. Then 3 days ago I had an email saying congratulations you are now part of #AccessAllAsos. This is where I let out a little EEEP with excitement and queue me waiting by the door like a dog for the post to arrive, as Asos had said they had sent me something in the post.

Cambridge satchel shop

Last week I took a walk to Covent Garden and discovered the Cambridge Satchel Company Store. I knew it was in Covent Garden, but everytime I have been there I one always get lost and two I have no idea where I found the shop. I checked their website and it is by seven dials. I am sure I can find it again if I needed too.

Vista Print Calendar

For Christmas I made and ordered 3 personalised calendars, one for my mum, one for my brother and one for my boyfriend's mum.

The calendars I made for my mum and brother were pictures of their cats. Using pictures I had taken on my DLSR. The one I made my boyfriends mum was of her family members, using pictures from a few different family members. These photos were taken on different cameras.

I had the idea of personalised calendar for a few years now and I had never actually got round to making one, let alone 3 until, now.

I knew that around Christmas time personalised gift sites, like Vista Print, have offers on. They did not let me down and I saw a television advert, which reminded me I wanted to make one of these. I just had to place the voucher code through the checkout when I made the purchase.

Making the calendar was really easy.

First you decide whether you want to use their photo library or use your own photos to make your calendar. Prices are listed below, these will change throughout the year so don't expect them to be this price.

Boots advantage card for over 60's

I went with my mum to Boots, whilst I was at home for Christmas and when she used her advantage card it said on the receipt that she gets an extra 10 or so points for being over 60.

Why can't we all get extra points? Over 60's have it good. Free bus pass, not having to work, extra Boots points.

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub Review

Back in November I signed up to a blogger secret Santa and the lovely Gemma bought me lots of goodies. One of the goodies she bought me was this much wanted Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub. I had seen it on nearly every beauty bloggers blog and longed to try it, but couldn't justify playing £5 something for it.

Fixation fixed my camera!

A few weeks ago I stupidly dropped my DSLR when taking some OOTD shots at my parents house and I had my camera balanced on a flimsy tripod. I think that was my downfall. The camera fell with the tripod from a significant height hitting the floor and snapping my pop up flash into 3 pieces and still being attached. I had the camera on a custom timer so when I picked it up the flash went off in my face. Here is one of the shots of me realising I had just broken my camera.

Winning Tea on Twitter

Just before Christmas I won some tea on Twitter and I have only just got around to telling you guys about it as I left it at my parents house. It came in a small package with a lovely little note.

My favourite places to eat in London

I am quite partial to lunch dates with my friends from work as they always take me to lovely places. I feel that my blog, being called Lorilee's London, is lacking in the London posts at the moment. Infact it has been lacking them for a while now and I want to revive that by starting I with sharing my favourite places to eat.

I write this post in no particular order as I like all of the restaurants mentioned below and have been to them a few times. I have however, structured this post to feature all the restaurants which are on the same street. This is a very picture heavy post and contains lots of food. You may want to get a snack whilst you read this as I needed one to write this post. I also didn't quite realise how many restaurants I have been to and would recommend.

First up - Bills Restaurant - one is located in Covent Garden and the other on Brewer Street in Soho. I have been to both and both are equally as good. I went this week with my friend for a birthday lunch. I had the fish finger sandwich and he had macaroni and cheese.

New Years resolutions how are you getting on with them?

Did you set yourself any New Years resolutions for 2014? I have made the same resolution that I have made for the past 4 years and I fail at it everytime - to always bring lunch to work and not go out and buy things. I do go out a lot with my friends from work for lunch so this kind of lunch is ok, even though it is breaking my New Years resolution.

Photo studio with lights

My dad asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year and I wanted a camera lens for my canon 550D, but my boyfriend had bought me one for my birthday. So I was all out of ideas as to what I wanted for Christmas, but I had seen on Hayley Sparkles Instagram that she had received a photo studio from Santa. I had seen these before and wanted one to improve my blog photos. So I asked my dad if I could have this.

This years Pound Presents

At Christmas each year my boyfriends family buy each other pound presents. The aim of the game is to buy everyone a gift for a pound or less. There is a limit of £1.50 - you're not supposed to go over it. Then you can win the trophy, the muts nuts, for having the best prize.

100 day Spending Ban

I have seen a few posts floating around on blogs about the 100 day spending ban starting on January 1st 2014 and ending on April 1st 2014. That seems a long way away. I have never participated in a spending ban because I feel like if I did participate I would be more inclined to spend rather than save. I see it as a motivation to go the shops not stay away from them, which is why I won't be participating.

However, I do have a receipt book where I keep all my in going and out goings for every month so I can see what I have spent and saved. I feel like this is more useful to me than a spending ban. Although I do get some strange looks when I ask for a receipt for food I have purchased from a food stall at a market. I usually end up with a bit of paper. I have done this every year since 2010.

Horse riding!

Yesterday I was lucky enough to go horse riding again with my friend from work.

This is Ernie the horse I have ridden every time I have been horse riding there. I have been 3 times in total.

He's an old gentle horse who needs a good kick to get him going. He's also a bit nervous around the big horses but if you keep him a good distance away from him he's fine.

I bought all of these Revlon nail polishes from Poundland over the summer. I have really enjoyed going to Poundland this summer and discovering their beauty products.

Meeting Blog Beth and visiting Lush

Whilst I was at home a few weeks back I took a trip to Chester and met up with Blog Beth.

What to do when you are off work sick

Before Christmas I was sick on my way to work and didn't make it in. I visited the doctors and was given a sick note. I hate being off work and staying at home, it's the most boring thing ever and I feel more sick being at home. For the first few hours its great as I got to go back to sleep, but after that I watched hours and hours of day time television and to be honest I am bored out of my mind. I don't know how people without jobs can stay in doors all day.

Anyway, to get on with this post - things to do on a sick day or on a day off.
  1. If you are a blogger - write a blog post or 2. I wrote 4.
  2. Watch TV - for a bit, but not all day like I did.
  3. Organise your wardrobe - a lot of this seemed to be happening today, I saw a few tweets.
  4. Do shop Christmas shopping online.
  5. Take a bath.
  6. Paint your nails
  7. Wrap some Christmas presents
  8. Go outside for a walk

My work secret Santa

Last year people didn't want to participate in secret Santa, but this year with the right people secret Santa was set up for my department. Names were thrown into a pot and picked out.

I had my friend Blanca and she was easy to buy for. I bought her a diary, a pen, vodka and cheese puffs, because she loves them. I received a little bit of help from my other friend in work who asked her what she would like from secret Santa.

Unfortunately on the day the gifts were exchanged in my department I was sick. I did come in the next day and picked up my gift, which was a bit of a mixed bag. However, I like each item individually but I don't think they go together.

I received a bottle of ketchup, a pineapple and some really nice smelling moisturisers.

What I got for Christmas

I know some people don't like these posts, but I have thoroughly enjoyed reading these posts this week. Especially looking at the pictures too. I saw one post that featured a small photo studio with lights and I asked for that from my Dad on Christmas Day as I had not chosen my big gift just yet. I did want a camera lens but my boyfriend bought me one for my birthday and the other lens I wanted was 10mm closer and was essentially the same lens.

So where do I begin? I love all my gifts and so grateful to have received them. So here they are in no particular order.

Lots of lovely smellies that look really cool and shaped like cakes.

So I dropped my DSLR...

On Saturday morning I dropped my camera while I was taking some OOTD pictures for my 365 OOTD. 4 days in and I never want to take an OOTD AGAIN! My DSLR was too heavy for the tripod I was using, my own fault really. I managed to take 10 pictures with my camera and then didn't have it balanced correctly and it toppled over :( smashing my built in flash.

OOTD 365

I have seen that recently a lot of bloggers have written a post which show cases their outfits of 2013. I really love reading, and looking at the pictures on these posts. I wanted to participate in a photo a day challenge, but I don't seem to be able to keep up with it and fail miserably like I did with the #BXIC when I got to day 21. I will at some point find photos for these days I missed and fill in the gaps.

I wanted to share with you my limited pictures of my outfits that I wore in 2013 - I started my OOTD posts I'm the summer. I can't wait to wear my sandals again instead of my wellies.

What I bought with my Boots Voucher from Louise

A few weeks back I entered a competition on Confetti Letters Blog and to my suprize won. I made a post here about what I won in the package. I spent my Boots voucher in Boots, obviously, after Christmas in the sales.

My Dad found these nail polishes laying around in Boots and as they were half price I snapped them up. It has a mix of metalic and gloss polishes.

Winning the Rimmel Competition on Instagram

A few weeks back I entered a competition on Superdrug's Instagram page to win some Rimmel make up. All I had to do was comment on the post with what Christmas meant to me. Family and food. I received a reply saying that I had own and I needed to contact Rimmel. I did this and my parcel came, but unfortunately the post man had managed to smash the silver nail polish. It had left Rimmel HQ in one piece. The smashed silver nail polish had also melted the other items, which was a real shame as I was looking forward to using these Rimmel products.

New Primark shoes

Yesterday after work I popped into Primark and skipped out with these 2 pairs of shoes. I went in looking for my Mary Jane shoes as I had seen a post on someone's Instagram of the black ones. I asked if there were any other colours and was told they came in the beige, which is what I purchased and red, which is what I really wanted but the Tottenham Court Road Primark didn't have any.

I am ready for the summer with my jelly shoes. I really like jelly shoes, but didn't like the heeled ones that were for sale this summer in Urban Outfitters. These are great as they fit my wide feet and I just love the colour.

Photo a day challenge with Amelia

I saw this post on Instagram a few days ago and decided that I would participate. I have wanted to do a photo a day challenge every year since I heard about them, which I think was back in 2010, but have never done it.

I participated in sprinkle of glitter's 30 day snap in June and really enjoyed that, but I got lost in Christmas and failed at Just Steph's photo a day challenge in December. It started off well, but I didn't upload to the end of the month. So I am not so sure that I am going to be able to do the 365 photo a day challenge, which is why I decided to sign up to Amelia's January photo a day challenge and see how I get on.
